BACKGROUND

The calculation of the carbon footprint is a challenge for many industrial sectors that often include a wide range of components or stages throughout their manufacturing process and during the product lifecycle. In addition, currently there is a broad spectrum of methodologies in use and under development for calculating the carbon footprint , which accounts for the large differences observed between the results obtained according to the methodology employed.

Faced with this situation, the CO2Shoe project was launched with the aim of establishing uniform criteria for the calculation of the carbon footprint of a pair of shoes, considering the greenhouse gas emissions released throughout the manufacturing process.
